About The Artist

Armando

It’s a pleasure to introduce myself. I’m Armando (b. 1987), though my peers often call me “Chi-town.” I’m a self-taught artist who began experimenting with various media in 2012, from pencil and charcoal to pastels and tattoo machines. Today, my preferred choices are oils and acrylics.

I draw deep inspiration from the Old Masters, studying their brush and perspective techniques through books and magazines. I take those classical foundations and blend them with my own ideas, color theories, and modern tools like the airbrush.

Influences like Van Gogh and Pino Daeni shape my evolving style, which I believe holds great promise.

As Van Gogh wrote, “Who am I, In the eyes of most people? A nobody, a non-entity… Well then, even if that all were absolutely true, then one day, I would like to show by my work what this nobody… has in his heart.” My hope is for my art to connect me to those outside the fence—to the “Theos” who encourage and believe in me.
